Ruben
Manuel Beltrán Guerra -
Biography
Beltran
is a self taught artist, one who has overcome many
obstacles. He has limited formal training but has
been an avid observer.
As
a child and adult he would spend hours looking at
nature - on the beach, watching all the different
colors of the sea and its life; on a train to Havana
watching the changing landscape until his eyes ached;
or at night, stargazing on a rooftop. Beltran's goal
is to capture nature on his canvas in his landscapes.
For
Beltran, painting is a demonstration of all the love
he feels for God, man, and nature. "The sketch
is like a newborn, then I nurture it raise it until
it grows and becomes an adult, the finished work
of art." It is this same attachment to his work
that makes it so difficult for Beltran to let go
of his paintings and sell them.
